Biogenics Pty Ltd is an established Australian health and wellness company specialising in nutritional supplements, herbal products, practitioner products, product development, manufacturing and distribution.
Based in Shailer Park, Queensland, we are a growing privately owned business with a team of approximately 10 staff operating across production, warehouse, administration, sales, marketing and finance.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager – Finance & Operations to work closely with the CEO and Owner and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial and operational management of the business.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys improving businesses, developing people, analysing numbers and turning plans into results.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and Owner, you will play a key role in the next stage of Biogenics' growth.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the business operates efficiently, profitably and with clear financial and management accountability.
You will oversee the day-to-day performance of the business, help manage and develop our team, strengthen financial controls and provide clear visibility over margins, costs, cash flow, staffing and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Finance & Commercial Management
- Prepare and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital.
- Prepare monthly management reports for the Owner and CEO.
- Monitor revenue, gross margins, operating expenses and profitability.
- Analyse product, customer and business-unit profitability.
- Review pricing and commercial margins.
- Monitor labour costs against revenue and productivity.
- Identify unnecessary expenditure and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Improve purchasing and inventory controls.
- Monitor debtor and creditor performance.
- Work closely with accounting and external financial advisers.
- Develop financial models to support investment and business decisions.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Coordinate activities between Production, Warehouse, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Administration.
- Ensure company priorities are translated into clear actions and deadlines.
- Improve workflows and operational efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions.
- Monitor production capacity and operational performance.
- Improve inventory and stock management.
- Reduce unnecessary manual processes and duplicated administration.
- Support implementation and improvement of business systems.
- Assess potential investments in equipment, technology and infrastructure.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within agreed budgets.
People & Performance Management
- Lead and support approximately 10 staff across the business.
- Establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations.
- Develop measurable KPIs for departments and team members.
- Conduct regular management and performance meetings.
- Improve staff accountability and follow-through.
- Manage employee performance professionally and consistently.
- Assist with recruitment and selection.
- Improve staff onboarding and training.
- Review staffing levels against workload and productivity.
- Develop existing staff and future managers.
- Promote effective communication between departments.
A Strong Financial Focus
Financial management is a major component of this position.
You should be confident understanding, analysing and explaining:
- Profit and loss statements
- Gross margins
- Cash flow
- Budgets and forecasts
- Labour costs
- Inventory costs
- Product profitability
- Pricing
- Operating expenses
- Working capital
- Return on investment
We are looking for someone who can identify where money is being made, where it is being lost and what practical actions can be taken to improve business performance.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
As the business continues to grow, you will help improve the systems and processes that support it.
This will include:
- Improving financial and management reporting.
- Reviewing operational workflows.
- Improving inventory control.
- Improving purchasing procedures.
- Supporting greater use of barcode scanning and warehouse systems.
- Reducing unnecessary manual data entry.
- Improving integration between finance, inventory, production and sales information.
- Establishing better management dashboards and KPIs.
- Creating clear policies, procedures and approval processes.
Experience with AI, Xero, ERP, WMS or inventory management systems would be highly regarded.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong financial capability with practical leadership skills.
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong financial and commercial management experience.
- Previous management responsibility within a small-to-medium business.
- Experience leading and developing staff.
- Strong budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Excellent understanding of P&L and cash flow.
- Experience analysing margins, costs and profitability.
- Demonstrated ability to improve business processes.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to make recommendations and implement change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on management style.
Experience in manufacturing, health products, complementary medicines, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, food manufacturing, wholesale or distribution would be advantageous.
Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or Management would be highly regarded.
CA, CPA or similar qualifications are advantageous but are not essential where strong commercial and management experience can be demonstrated.

This is not a purely desk-based finance position.
You will be expected to understand how the entire business operates and work closely with our production, warehouse, administration, sales and marketing teams.

Remuneration
$100,000 + superannuation + performance-based incentives.
This position includes the opportunity to earn additional remuneration based on measurable improvements you help deliver to the business.
Performance incentives will be linked to agreed KPIs including:
