Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Mining Supervisor to lead a mining crew at MGO. As a Mining Supervisor, you will report to the Mining Superintendent working a rotating day/night, lifestyle roster.
Leading on the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a big responsibility. We need you to motivate, inspire and develop our people, fostering a positive and safe work culture.
The main accountabilities of this role include, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, effective resource management, identifying and implementing opportunities to reduce costs and delivering agreed KPIs whilst continually maintaining and improving a safe workplace.
The requirements for success in this role include:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mining Supervisor / Open Cut Examiner Coal
Current NSW Open Cut Examiners Practicing Certificate (mandatory)
Experience in complex mines with terrace mining to recover thin multi-seam coal
Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and best practices
Leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
