Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Greater Shepparton City Council's Parks, Sport & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Casual Parks Maintenance Employees to assist with the maintenance and presentation of parks, gardens, sporting facilities, and public spaces across the municipality.
This hands-on role involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and undertaking a range of grounds maintenance activities. Duties include operating and maintaining equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers, edgers, blowers, and other horticultural tools and machinery, as well as cleaning and maintaining park infrastructure and public amenities.
Previous experience operating parks maintenance equipment is desirable; however, on-the-job training will be provided to suitable candidates.
The successful applicants will have a keen interest in delivering high-quality lawn, garden, and open space maintenance and ideally possess experience in horticulture, agriculture, parks maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
As these are casual positions, hours of work are not guaranteed, and flexibility is essential. During peak growth periods (September to April), casual employees may be offered up to 76 hours per fortnight.
Essential Requirement:
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
Highly Desirable Requirement:
- Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence
- Traffic Management Certification
- Construction Induction (White Card)
