Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative – Justice & Community Services now has the following vacancy:

Specialist Aboriginal Family Violence Case Manager

Full-time, 38 hours a week – Ongoing, with rotation roster including weekends and overnight stays

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

This is a designated female (gender specific) role in according with special measures criteria of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

About the Role

The Aboriginal Family Violence Case Manager supports the team to deliver high-quality, culturally safe and effective responses through an integrated Aboriginal family violence model. The role provides screening, assessment, triage and short-term support to residents, coordinates wraparound services, and requires a strong understanding of Aboriginal family violence, its complexities and its impacts on victim-survivors of all ages and perpetrators.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will navigate and advocate across relevant service systems, support Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative to deliver culturally safe and inclusive services, provide secondary consultations to internal and external stakeholders where appropriate, and strengthen cultural safety and competence. Service delivery is funded and subject to specified performance targets.

About You

Qualifications and Registrations:

Under the mandatory minimum qualification requirements arising from Royal Commission into Family Violence (2015) Recommendation 209, applicants must:

Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent qualification;
Hold a related qualification recognised under the mandatory requirements;
Be considered exempt under the Policy;
Have at least five years of relevant professional experience; or
Meet the equivalency principles through significant cultural knowledge and experience, lived experience and/or barriers to educational pathways.

Knowledge and skills:

You will have:

Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and self-determination, including the local service-delivery environment, families, community and Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative.
Sound knowledge of Aboriginal family violence and demonstrated ability to deliver culturally safe and responsive practice within an integrated service model.
An understanding of the law and legal system in family violence responses.
Knowledge and experience in working with Aboriginal women, children, families, victim-survivors and perpetrators of family violence.
Experience working in multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings.
The ability to work collaboratively to drive cultural change, deliver innovative practices that strengthen quality standards for Aboriginal people, and build an effective, culturally safe and responsive practice culture.
Strong self-management skills, including the ability to welcome feedback, use new knowledge to understand your behaviour and its impact on others, and manage strong emotional reactions effectively.
