The Operational Teaching Assistant (OTA) is a key administrative support role within Cobram Secondary College, designed to assist teachers and school staff by undertaking operational and administrative tasks that reduce teacher workload.
The role supports the delivery of educational programs by managing routine processes, documentation, communication and organisational tasks that do not require a teaching qualification. The OTA works closely with teachers, sub¿school teams and leadership to ensure administrative functions are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with school procedures.
The OTA is responsible for coordinating and completing a range of administrative and operational tasks across the school, including classroom preparation support, data entry, communication processes, event coordination and resource organisation. This role contributes to improving efficiency and enabling teachers to focus on high-impact teaching and learning.
The position requires strong organisational and administrative skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a structured environment.
Administrative Support

Provide routine administrative support to teachers and school staff

Maintain, enter and retrieve data from school systems (e.g. Compass)

Maintain accurate records including student information, attendance and school documentation

Prepare and distribute routine communications (e.g. notices, newsletters, parent information)
Teacher and Classroom Support

Prepare, organise and collate learning materials and classroom resources
