About the opportunity
The NSW SES is recruiting for an experienced media professional who will play a key role in supporting the Media & Communications Teams at the NSW SES.
In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational media management, preparation of media and public information materials and editorial opportunities. You will also engage with internal and external media stakeholders and NSW SES volunteers to enhance the agency’s brand and reputation, and coordinate and lead sessions and mentor staff and volunteers in media training.
The role will also be required to support the service during operational events to deliver important safety messages across a range of channels. The role may include weekend work and night shifts on a rostered basis.

About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have tertiary qualifications in journalism, media/communications or marketing, or demonstrated equivalent experience working in these fields.
- Be highly proficient at writing, editing, and publishing various materials such as media releases, talking points, newsletters, and web and social media content.
- Have experience in planning, developing and implementing communication strategies, plans, media campaigns and events.
- Possess the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment to complete set tasks.
- Have strong communicative and interpersonal skills to collaborate, advise, influence and train stakeholders of various levels and backgrounds.
- Demonstrate a capability to maintain awareness of critical issues within the media and report on them accordingly.
- Previous experience developing and delivering training, policies and procedures is desirable.
