About Us
Embers Fusion Indian Restaurant is one of the Illawarra's busiest Indian restaurants, operating a large-scale kitchen with approximately 200 seats, takeaway, catering, buffet services, meal preparation and wholesale products.
We are looking for an experienced Curry Chef who can perform in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen and consistently produce authentic Indian cuisine to the highest standard.
This position is suited to a chef who enjoys working under pressure, takes pride in quality and consistency, and is looking for long-term career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare authentic North Indian curries to restaurant standards.
- Manage the curry section independently during busy service periods.
- Assist in the tandoor and entrée sections when operational requirements demand.
- Maintain consistency, speed and quality during high-volume service.
- Follow established recipes, systems and quality standards.
- Support and supervise junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and stock control practices.
- Work cooperatively with management to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Curry Chef in a busy Indian restaurant.
- Proven ability to work in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian spices, gravies and traditional cooking techniques.
- Experience across curry, tandoor and entrée sections.
- Ability to remain calm and organised during peak trading periods.
- Excellent teamwork, communication and time management skills.
- Sound knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene practices.
- Applicants must currently be residing in Australia. Offshore applications will not be considered.
