About the Role
We’re seeking a Part-Time Commis Chef / Cook with a strong focus on breakfast service to support our kitchen operations at voco™ Melbourne Central. This role will primarily involve preparing and maintaining our buffet breakfast offering, operating the egg station, and supporting overall breakfast service, while also assisting with lunch and dinner operations when required.
You’ll play an important role in delivering a high-quality breakfast experience for our hotel guests through fresh preparation, efficient service, and attention to detail.
This is a part-time position with the opportunity for the right candidate who demonstrates strong performance, commitment, and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and replenish buffet breakfast items throughout service
- Set up, maintain, and present the breakfast buffet to a high standard
- Operate and manage the egg station during breakfast service
- Prepare breakfast dishes with consistency, quality, and attention to presentation
- Assist with mise en place and support lunch and dinner service when required
- Support the larder and grill sections as needed
- Ensure all hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards are maintained
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team in a fast-paced hotel environment
About You
- Previous kitchen experience, ideally within a hotel or high-volume breakfast environment
- Confidence working breakfast service and preparing eggs to order
- Passion for food and delivering great guest experiences
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Reliable, motivated, and able to work early morning shifts, weekends, and public holidays
