Committees Liaison Officer

Band 5 - $77,357 - $88,159 yearly, plus 12% superannuation
We are looking for a proactive and community-focused Committees Liaison Officer to join our team. In this vital role, you will support volunteer Committees of Management who oversee the operation and maintenance of community-managed facilities across our municipality.
You will be the bridge between Shire Council and committees of management — building strong relationships, providing expert advice, and driving participation and engagement at our valued community facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing relationships and providing professional advice that supports effective Committee of Management operation.
- Supporting and building the capacity of Committees of Management to increase participation at community facilities, improve governance and improve volunteer recruitment and retention.
- Enabling and developing Community Committees to be responsive and engaged with their communities to maximise building and facility usage and appropriately maintain Council’s community managed facilities.
- Managing positive and collaborative working relationships with volunteers, community, Council staff and other stakeholders.
- Provide support to the Community Managed Facilities team during times of peak workload and with specific projects.
What You Will Bring
- Ability to work collaboratively with committees of management and provide governance support particularly in a volunteer-based or local government setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management, organisation and project coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and information management systems.
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience working with volunteers, committees of management or community organisations.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly your ability to liaise and build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Well developed skills in planning work, time management and prioritisation of tasks.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and information management systems.
- Preferred qualifications include a post-secondary qualification in Business Administration (or similar), and experience in a local government environment.
You will also need:
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- A willingness to contribute to Council’s emergency response efforts if required.
