Term: 3 years plus eligible for 3 + 3 year extension (total of 9 years)
Time Commitment: Monthly Board meetings + additional committee involvement
Location: Kaurna Country, Adelaide, South Australia. Must be available to travel to meetings held across various Adelaide metro locations including Edinburgh North & Klemzig

About the Role:
Are you an experienced CEO, Board Director, or senior executive looking to contribute your expertise to a purpose-driven organisation?
We’re seeking a leader to join Sonder as a Board Director, contributing to the strategic direction and governance of one of South Australia’s leading not-for-profit health and community service organisations. The role suits someone with senior executive or board experience in a medium to large organisation and a strong background in strategy, governance, and financial oversight.
Please note the following key requirements for this position:
The Board role is intended for an individual who has completed the AICD Company Directors Course or is willing to work to undertake.
At Sonder we recognise the importance of a Board that is gender diverse.
Applicants must have no actual or potential conflicts of interest or other affiliations that would make their appointment inappropriate or hinder their effective contribution to the Board.
Experience Requirements:
Essential:
Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to Board-level decision making.
Proven CEO (or equivalent) or Board experience in a complex not-for-profit, or for-profit, health, human services, or community services organisation, including accountability for budget exceeding $50 million.
Knowledge of corporate governance (training can be provided).
Demonstrated ability to apply executive-level judgement to complex governance matters and translate operational realities into strategic insights for Board consideration.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership and good governance.
Based in South Australia and available to attend regular board meetings.
Commitment to Sonder’s mission and values.
Desirable:
Experience on a Board or committee.
Understanding of financial, legal, or risk management.
Experience in the not-for-profit or health sector.
Experience overseeing significant government funding, commissioning, contracts, and stakeholder relationships in a complex operating environment.
Completion of the AICD Company Directors Course, or equivalent.
