PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO ASSIST THE FARM MANAGER IN BEEF CATTLE PRODUCTION, SERVICING AND MARKETING
RESPONSABILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provide technical support to assist the Farm Manager in beef cattle production,
servicing and marketing.
- Conduct technical assessments and monitoring to support optimum beef cattle
health and production outcomes.
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of pastures, grazing land, and feedlot
facilities to ensure they meet technical welfare standards and production
requirements for cattle.
- Perform technical field tasks including necropsies and the identification of
pathogenic microorganisms, parasites, toxic weeds, and insects, subsequently
advising management on appropriate control methods.
- Implement herd health monitoring protocols, including the early technical
recognition of illnesses such as bovine respiratory disease, and the administration
of preventative and early-intervention treatments.
- Analyse and calculate the nutrient requirements of beef cattle based on variables
such as breed genetics, age, reproductive state, ambient temperature, and specific
production aims.
- Perform artificial insemination procedures on beef cattle to support controlled
breeding programs on the farm.
- Provide technical advice to the Farm Manager on cattle breeding selection and
reproductive techniques to improve herd genetics and production outcomes.
- Provide technical support in the operation of farm management software,
livestock monitoring sensors, and related agricultural technology systems used in
beef cattle production.
- Collect, collate, and record technical agricultural data including calving rates,
weaning weights, vaccination histories, and feed consumption to support research
and farm management decisions.
- Monitor cattle to gauge the effectiveness of specific feed rations and grazing
programs, ensuring diets technically fulfil all nutrient requirements for optimum
growth and reproductive efficiency.
- Execute technical procedures related to the farm's Quality Assurance program,
including taking samples, conducting quality tests, and providing technical
support during the processing, sorting, and preparation of cattle for transport.
- Demonstrate a caring attitude towards beef cattle and a willingness to perform all
assigned technical tasks, including data collection and record keeping, in full
compliance with relevant legislation and required work standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
Minimum of 1 years fulltime work experience and a minimum Australian Diploma/ Advance
Diploma or equivalent.
In the absence of qualification 3 years full time relevant work experience is required.

CERTIFICATION & ENGAGEMENT REVIEW
EMPLOYMENT AND POSITION ENGAGEMENT APPRAISAL AND REVIEW WOULD BE CONDUCTED BY THE DIRECTORS EVERY YEAR UPON THE COMMENCEMENT MONTH OF INITIAL ENGAGEMENT AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION ABOVE.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
