Financial Management Accountant

We are seeking an experienced hands-on Financial Management Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for month-end close activities, consolidated statutory and tax reporting and all other parent company responsibilities, inventory accounting, compliance reporting, and supporting finance transformation projects. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent systems experience, and advanced Excel and analytical skills. The role is based in Brisbane and will report to the Finance Manager, Yara Australia.
Responsibilities
Summary of Duties
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes and reporting accurately within deadlines
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger analysis
In charge of standalone and consolidated statutory financial reports preparation and ASIC lodgement and external audit requirements
Monitor and Manage Cashflow, Investment transactions and Financing activities
Manage taxation and compliance obligations, including:
BAS/GST reporting
PAYG withholding reporting
Payroll tax
Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
Prepare and coordinate annual income tax reporting and supporting schedules
Corporate consolidated income tax compliance and tax return preparation
Liaise with external tax advisors on annual income tax matters
Other regulatory lodgements as required
Monitor inventory accounting accuracy and investigate variances
In charge of / supervise supplier invoicing process and timely payment
In charge of business insurance administration, including policy renewals, documentation, and coordination with brokers and internal stakeholders, Support insurance accounting, reconciliations, and claims management as required
Supervise government compliance reports, including ABS, Payment terms reporting…
Support finance and business projects, including system implementations and functional currency changes.
Assist with process improvements, automation initiatives, and internal control enhancement
Liaise with internal stakeholders, auditors, tax advisors, and external authorities
And other ad hoc tasks as required by management

Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline
CPA or CA qualified
Experience:
Minimum 7+ years’ experience in senior financial accountant role, previous manager/supervisor experience is a plus
Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements
Experience with financial consolidation and ERP systems (e.g. HFM and other accounting systems)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
Good analytical and communication skills
Experience in manufacturing, inventory accounting, or FMCG environment will be highly regarded
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a proactive approach to problem solving
Self-motivated, hands-on, and accountable with strong problem-solving capability
Desirable:
Experience in system implementation or finance transformation projects
Exposure to multinational or complex business environments
Big 4 experiences are considered advantageous for this role
Languages:
Fluent English is essential
