The Senior Financial Services Officer (Expenditure) is primarily responsible for the expenditure related finance functions of the City, ensuring the City’s financial service systems are efficient, effective and dynamic and comply with all relevant accounting standards and other statutory and financial requirements. In addition you will assist in the preparation of the City’s Annual Budget and coordinate the budget review process.

You will have a high level of knowledge of contemporary accounting principles and practices and have developed experience in a financial administration position with a commercial or local government authority with exposure to functions relevant to this position.

In addition to your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, you pride yourself on your teamwork, professionalism and attention to detail.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria when completing your online application:

An Undergraduate Degree level qualification in Accounting or Finance is essential with membership or progressing towards achieving membership of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA)/Chartered Accountants (CA) desirable.
A high-level knowledge of contemporary accounting principles and practices with supervisory experience in a financial administration position is essential. Particularly, exposure to complex areas such as fixed asset management, accounts payable, stock control, benchmarking system reviews and taxation compliance.
A high level of numeracy and computer literacy with developed Microsoft Excel skills is essential.
A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills is essential.

This position offers a salary from $102,707 to $110,461 per annum (dependent on skills and experience), and:

12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
A variety of health and wellbeing programs including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payment of up to $200 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services
Flexible working arrangements, including rostered days off and two additional paid days of absence per annum
