We are seeking a full-time Surveyor — Topographic, Construction & Mining Projects to support survey, spatial data, construction verification and project assurance activities across client projects.
Position summary
The Surveyor will plan, coordinate and conduct topographic, construction and mining-related survey activities. The role will involve collecting and processing survey data, establishing survey control, conducting site measurements, supporting construction set-out, preparing survey reports and providing accurate spatial information to project teams.
The role will support civil, infrastructure, resources, construction and mining projects by ensuring survey information is accurate, traceable and suitable for project planning, construction verification, quality assurance and operational decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and conduct topographic, construction and mining-related survey work.
- Establish survey control points, reference marks, set-out points and survey markers.
- Conduct field surveys using GPS/GNSS, total station, drone and other survey equipment.
- Capture, verify, process and analyse survey and spatial data.
- Conduct topographic surveys, construction set-out, as-built surveys, stockpile measurements and volume calculations.
- Support mining, civil, infrastructure and construction projects with accurate survey information.
- Prepare survey plans, field notes, technical reports, data files and project documentation.
- Interpret design drawings, site plans, construction specifications and client requirements.
- Maintain accurate survey records, spatial data systems and document control requirements.
- Support project quality assurance, construction verification and HSEQ requirements through accurate survey data.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, supervisors, contractors and client representatives.
- Identify survey-related risks, discrepancies or non-conformance and report them to management.
- Assist with continuous improvement of Impact Plus survey, data and project assurance systems.
Required qualifications and experience
- Minimum Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Spatial Science, Civil Surveying, Geo-spatial Science or a closely related field.
- Minimum five (5) years' post-qualification experience a must, with 5–10 years' relevant industry experience preferred.
- Relevant experience in engineering surveying, construction surveying, mining surveying, topographic surveying or a similar role.
- A minimum of 5 years' professional surveying experience is essential for this position.
- Experience using GPS/GNSS, total stations, drones or related survey equipment.
- Expert-level proficiency in GPS/GNSS and total station equipment operation is required.
- Experience processing survey data and preparing survey reports, plans or technical documentation.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, site plans, specifications and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate survey records.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with clients, engineers, supervisors and project teams.
- Current driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Desirable
- Experience in mining, construction, civil infrastructure, energy or resources projects.
- Experience with Surpac, MineSched, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Trimble, Leica, Topcon or equivalent systems.
- Drone survey and data processing experience.
- Experience with stockpile measurement, volume calculations, tailings dam surveys or underground survey support.
- Understanding of HSEQ, quality assurance and construction verification processes.
- Eligibility for professional registration or licensing where required.
Pay: $75,477.45 – $120,303.39 per year
