About Main Camp Natural Extracts
Main Camp Natural Extracts (‘MCNE’) is a private company established over a decade ago to build a farming operation in essential oils and a broader, cropping operation. Today the company operates several farms in NSW and has established itself as the global leader in the production of tea tree oil. As a mixed-farming business, Main Camp is also a significant sugar producer, rotational wheat and soybeans, and a growing cattle herd.
The farm operation is heavily mechanized, employing between 10 and 20 workers depending on the season. The farm operates under an Integrated Management System (IMS) and utilizes a variety of machines and equipment to aid in planting, cultivating, harvesting, and the distillation process. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, forklifts, tractors, planters, harvesters, trucks, excavators, loaders, grader and sprayers.
About the role
MCNE is seeking an experienced Service Plant Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis at our Northern Rivers farming operation in New South Wales.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of agricultural machinery, heavy diesel equipment and mobile plant used throughout the farming operation. This position reports directly to the Farm Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
- Servicing, repairing and maintenance of mobile plant and other machinery.
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns,
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
- Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
- Maintain plant records.
- Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment.
- Selecting tools and equipment.
- Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements.
- Collecting and analysing data.
- Ensuring compliance with environmentally sound work practises.
- Collection & disposal of waste materials
Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification as a Plant Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent.
- Relevant industry certifications and licences will be highly regarded.
Experience
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
Skills and Experience
- Experience with John Deere agricultural equipment, including harvesters, tractors and associated machinery, will be highly regarded.
- Provide technical service advice and maintenance recommendations to management and machinery operators.
- Experience with heavy diesel trucks, loaders, excavators, forklifts and other mobile plant equipment.
- In depth knowledge of diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers, service providers and operators regarding maintenance requirements and repair scheduling.
- Assist in planning maintenance programs and coordinating workshop activities to minimise operational downtime.
- Ability to supervise apprentices when required.
- Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety.
- Formal qualifications will be taken into consideration.
- Welding experience would be highly regarded.

Salary
An attractive remuneration package is on offer for this role circa $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year depending on experience + super.
