As a Farm Supervisor at Wilmar Sugar and Renewables, you’ll be responsible for performing duties associated with the growing of sugar cane and other rotation crops in the fully irrigated Burdekin region.
This position will be based in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.
Your Role in Action
- Sweet Success: Ensure the quality of agricultural tasks such as land preparation, planting, irrigating, drainage, recognition of pest and diseases and correct application and use of chemicals and fertilisers.
- Supervise & Comply: Mentor and guide field hands and ensure contractor compliance. Assist/facilitate training and inductions as required.
- Accuracy in Action: Manage the timeliness of farming operations and be able to do administrative tasks such as water orders, timesheets, fuel usage and delivery dockets.
- Smooth Operator: Have knowledge in agronomy and basic farm machinery and equipment maintenance. Carry out irrigation scheduling, setup of implements, application equipment calibration and manage GPS operations.
- Safety Guardian: Show a strong commitment to safety.
Your Winning Combination
The successful applicant must be a strong communicator, have prior agronomy or agricultural experience, hold a HR “C” Class Drivers Licence and show a practical understanding and knowledge of farming operations technology. Familiarity with modern agricultural technology including GPS systems, automation and electronic record keeping is desirable.
