The purpose of this role is to provide advanced scientific expertise and leadership within Molecular Genetics, applying independent scientific judgement to the performance, interpretation and reporting of complex molecular genetic testing while supporting high-quality statewide genomics services.
What you'll do
In this role you will perform, interpret and report complex molecular genetic testing, apply advanced scientific judgement to diagnostic investigations and problem solving, provide scientific leadership and technical guidance to laboratory staff, contribute to next generation sequencing and genomic testing services, support training and professional development activities, ensure compliance with NATA, ISO and TGA requirements, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to deliver high-quality diagnostic outcomes across Queensland.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
Holds a relevant degree in Science with training and experience in Molecular Genetics or Molecular Pathology
Has advanced knowledge and experience in molecular genetic diagnostic testing
Can independently interpret and report complex laboratory analyses
Has demonstrated scientific leadership and mentoring experience
Has strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Has experience working within accredited laboratory environments and quality frameworks
