Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Principal Communications Advisor to lead the Communications and Governance function within South Coast Region. This role will provide high level strategic and operational support to program managers delivering the Queensland Transport and Road Infrastructure Program (QTRIP) across the region. The Principal Communications Advisor will oversee a team responsible for coordinating communications, governance processes and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring information is accurate, timely and aligned with TMR standards

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities required:

Leads strategically. Seeks and leverages stakeholder feedback to steer and adjust plans and encourages others to do the same. Works with the team to organise work priorities so they deliver on broader organisational commitments.
Makes insightful decisions. Role models courage in making decisions under pressure or in the absence of complete information. Remains composed during high pressure situations, supporting the team to recognise gaps in information and seek advice to enable a prompt and considered response.

Drives accountability and outcomes. Drives autonomy in the team by empowering others to take ownership for the delivery and quality of outcomes achieved. Role models persistence and supports others to work through obstacles in the delivery of projects.

Accountability

Demonstrates sound governance. Supports others to embrace and operate within legislative and policy frameworks that guide everyday practice. Works with the team to evaluate options and develop appropriate plans to mitigate risks.

Occupation specific

Applies knowledge of community engagement best practice and relationship management, in a major infrastructure project environment, to deliver effective public consultation with stakeholders and the wider community that ensures positive community and departmental outcomes, while maintaining the department's reputation.
Applies knowledge of government, executive correspondence, and best writing practice to develop, tailor and provide advice on ministerials, briefing notes and executive letters.
Applies knowledge of public relations, corporate communications, and issues/reputation management to develop strategies and provide advice to establish and maintain mutual understanding between the department and its stakeholders.
