The Role: Educate, Inspire, and Lead the Future of Sport as a Project Management Educator
As an educator with the TAFE Queensland Academy of Sport, you will primarily deliver and assess:
* BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management
You may also contribute, where appropriate, to contextual learning elements within:
* BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management
* SIS50321 Diploma of Sport
The role is based at the Parramatta Eels Institute, located within the Club's high performance headquarters at the James Hardie Centre of Excellence, Kellyville (NSW).
This role goes beyond classroom delivery. You will guide students through end to end project lifecycles, using real industry briefs to develop capability in planning, execution, risk, stakeholder engagement and evaluation. This is more than traditional teaching. It is about bringing theory to life through real industry contexts, connecting students with professionals working inside elite clubs, and mentoring the next generation of sport industry leaders.
You will work closely with students, industry partners, and the TAFE Queensland team to ensure learning is engaging, practical, and aligned with the realities of today's sport sector.
This position reports to the Educational Team Leader.
This is a Temporary, Full-time opportunity, to 25 June 2027 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Parramatta however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver industry connected project management training aligned to nationally recognised qualifications, using real sport and business projects as learning vehicles
Lead effective teaching and assessment across classroom, simulated, workplace and online environments, with a strong focus on applied project delivery
Guide students through project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure using contemporary project management methodologies
Design and implement assessment tools that reflect real world project documentation, reporting and governance requirements
Support students to apply learning through industry based projects, operational initiatives and event or program delivery
Build strong working relationships with industry partners, colleagues and students to ensure learning remains relevant and commercially aligned
Maintain currency in project management practice, tools and education methodologies
Contribute to continuous improvement of Academy of Sport programs and teaching practice
Undertake associated administrative responsibilities including monitoring student progression, learner engagement and assessment quality

Strong, practical experience in project management, including planning, delivery, stakeholder management and reporting
Ability to translate project management competencies into engaging, applied learning experiences
Experience delivering or working within structured project methodologies
High level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A collaborative, adaptable approach suited to a dynamic, industry connected environment
Genuine commitment to student development and career ready outcomes
Experience within sport, events, facilities, commercial or operational environments is an advantage but not essential. While students come from a range of sporting codes, a strong understanding of rugby league is highly desirable, helping ensure learning is aligned with the industry context of our programs delivered with the Parramatta Eels.

How you will be assessed
Demonstrate strong knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses, with the ability to translate competency requirements into practical learning experiences aligned with the sport industry and the operational environments of professional rugby league organisations such as the Parramatta Eels.
Apply best practice in the planning and delivery of teaching and learning activities, developing industry-relevant and innovative training solutions that integrate leadership, project management and sport industry scenarios.
Design and facilitate flexible and technology-enhanced learning experiences that support students studying within both classroom and industry-connected environments, including the use of digital learning tools and Learning Management Systems.
Demonstrate initiative, strong self-management and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, while maintaining a professional approach to change, innovation and continuous improvement.
Maintain contemporary knowledge of both the sport industry and vocational education practices through ongoing professional development, ensuring teaching remains aligned with current leadership, management and project delivery practices within sport organisations.
Demonstrate sound knowledge of safe, equitable and inclusive work practices, with the ability to foster a supportive and professional learning environment that delivers a high-quality student experience.

Applicants must possess the following:
Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;
BSB50820 - Diploma of Project Management (Required)
SIS50321 Diploma of Sport (Advantageous)
BSB50420 - Diploma of Leadership and Management (Advantageous)
current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or
TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; plus:
TAELLN411 or its successor or TAELLN401A; and
TAEASS502 or its successor or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or
A credential issued by a higher education provider which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher and one (1) of the following credentials:
TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor, or
TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or
TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set; or
A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
