Position Summary
The Student Support Case Manager plays a vital role in supporting Primary students with complex learning, behavioural, social, or developmental needs that extend beyond typical day‑to‑day classroom support. The objective of this role is to provide students with support and strategies that allow them to access the curriculum and operate effectively at school. It requires liaising with external professionals and includes completing formal applications in consultation with staff and parents to government departments for funding allocations which are reviewed on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
This 3‑day‑per‑week, fixed‑term role is responsible for:

Managing student support needs across two Primary year levels

Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure students can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life

Developing and coordinating support plans and strategies

Liaising with external providers (e.g., psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists)

Completing formal applications to government and non- government agencies for funding and support allocations.

Monitoring and reviewing student progress and documentation

Potentially running small‑group intervention sessions (note: this role does not carry a teaching load)

Selection Criteria

Bachelor’s degree in Education, with preference for qualifications in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or a related field

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Primary teacher, with strong capability in student support, case management, or working with students with additional needs

Current Queensland College of Teachers registration
-
Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and evidence‑based intervention strategies
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
-
Confidence in liaising with external providers, including psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and other specialists
-
Ability to manage support needs across multiple year levels, coordinating plans, documentation, and progress reviews
-
Proficiency with technology and data management tools to track student progress and inform decision‑making
-
A passion for supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of Primary students
