Details: In this role you will lead change to build the capability of the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) to deliver accessible communication in the style of Easy English and Easy Read. These styles are similar and we will use the term Easy English to cover both.
Easy English is a style of accessible written communication. It helps many people with intellectual and cognitive disabilities and benefits others in the community. It uses simple words and detailed images to support understanding.
In this role, you will initiate research and draft practical resources for staff use, working closely with other business areas across the ACT Public Service as well as external stakeholders, including disability organisations. You will coordinate a peer network of colleagues to help identify and progress key priorities, ensuring all work aligns with the ACTPS values of respect, collaboration, integrity and innovation. You will also provide best practice advice and, where required, direct support to teams developing Easy English documents, helping to ensure information is accessible and clearly understood by diverse audiences.
This role requires someone who is self-driven and passionate about accessibility.
