We are looking for a Health Care Worker Grade 1 to join our supportive Community Aged Care Services team at Portland District Health. As a Healthcare Worker - Domestic Assistance, you will perform typical activities that include:
- General household duties including cleaning, laundry, ironing, and meal preparation.
- Shopping without consumer.
- Responsible for compliance with safety guidelines in relation to cleaning products.
- Required to report all unsafe conditions or equipment/appliances in consumers’ homes.
- Carry out tasks in a friendly and cooperative manner, demonstrating a caring attitude towards consumer.
- Encouraging consumers to maintain and enhance their abilities and strengths.
- The incumbent shall have no authority to carry out personal tasks which would require the skills of a qualified nurse or allied health professional, nor to carry out any tasks for which he/she does not possess the necessary skills or level of competence.
About you:
- Current Victorian Drivers licence
- Certificate III in Aged Care, from an Australian registered training organisation or recognised equivalent qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
- Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and work effectively as part of multidisciplinary health care team.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in the delivery of duties to support consumers within the community.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, verbal and ICT skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs, issues, and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Previous experience working in hospital, community care, or residential aged care setting.
