Fortescue is seeking an experienced Fire Systems Mechanical Technician to join our Infrastructure Services team in Port Hedland. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly support the safety and reliability of our operational and camp facilities.

In this role, you will deliver safe, high-quality maintenance across site, taking ownership of the inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, hydrants and pump sets. You’ll be part of a highly skilled team that values safety, accountability and continuous improvement—while working in a dynamic, large-scale mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Champion safety-first behaviours and continuous improvement practices
Perform planned and routine maintenance on fire protection systems
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime
Oversee contractor groups during modular works and major shutdowns
Replace and modify fire pipework and sprinkler systems as required to Australia Standards
Utilise SAP to raise notifications, close work orders, complete time confirmations and apply cause codes

Qualifications and Experience

Australian recognised Certificate III in Fire Protection (Course Number CPC32813)
Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience post trade of Course Number CPC32813
EAHL qualification highly desirable
Experience in fixed plant maintenance including screens, conveyors, sizers, scrubbers, crushers, balance machines and chutes
Experience using computer-based maintenance systems (SAP desirable)
High-risk work tickets such as EWP, Working at Heights, Rigging, Forklift and Confined Space highly regarded
