Job Description
The Opportunity
As an Emergency Clerk, you will provide essential administrative support to the Emergency Department using patient information systems to support the smooth flow of patient care.
Key responsibilities include registering patients on arrival, supporting admission and discharge processes for effective bed management and utilisation, managing incoming and outgoing calls, responding to patient, visitor and staff queries, compiling and managing patient admission and clinical notes, and working alongside medical, nursing, pathology, administration and non-clinical teams to support a positive hospital experience.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be an enthusiastic and organised individual with a passion for customer service and the ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced department. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm, empathetic and professional while managing presentations, admissions and discharges.
Selection Criteria
Essential criteria include proven experience in a customer-facing administration role, strong attention to detail, computer literacy including Microsoft Office programs, the ability to multitask and work under pressure while being sensitive and understanding, advanced written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and effective time management skills.
Experience using Meditech, EDIS and/or EnVi will be highly regarded.
