About the Role
As a Lending Officer, you will assess, process, and manage loan applications from submission through to approval and settlement, ensuring all lending decisions align with responsible lending laws and internal credit policies.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Assessment & Processing
Assess home loan, personal loan, and refinancing applications
Review customer financial documents including income, expenses, and credit history
Evaluate creditworthiness using lending policies and NCCP guidelines
Prepare and process loan applications through to approval
Credit & Risk Evaluation
Perform serviceability assessments (income vs expenses vs debt)
Identify credit risks and ensure responsible lending compliance
Verify employment and financial documentation
Recommend approvals, declines, or conditional approvals
Customer & Broker Support
Communicate with customers regarding application progress
Liaise with mortgage brokers, solicitors, and valuers
Explain lending requirements and documentation needs
Provide updates throughout the loan process
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare loan contracts and settlement documentation
Ensure compliance with NCCP, AML/CTF, and Privacy laws
Maintain accurate records of loan applications and repayments
Support audit and internal risk reviews
Operational Support
Assist with loan settlements and payouts
Work with credit and settlements teams on final approvals
Handle escalations and complex lending cases
Support continuous improvement in lending processes
What We’re Looking For
Experience in banking, lending, credit, or mortgage processing preferred
Strong understanding of loan assessment and financial documents
Knowledge of responsible lending laws in Australia
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, KPI-driven environment
Finance, Business, or related qualification is an advantage
