## Airconditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber
## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Airconditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping, ducting, and mechanical equipment across heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. ## Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and study engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications to determine system layouts, material requirements, and installation sequences prior to commencing work
- Assemble, install, and commission mechanical services plant, air handling units, and air conditioning equipment in accordance with design specifications and Australian standards
- Install and configure small bore heating systems, including pipework, valves, pumps, and associated components, ensuring correct functionality and performance
- Fabricate, fit, and connect ducting and piping systems using a range of materials, techniques, and jointing methods suited to the specific application
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on existing HVAC and mechanical services systems to minimise downtime and extend equipment life
- Test, balance, and commission installed systems, identifying and rectifying any faults, leaks, or performance issues prior to handover
- Comply with all relevant workplace health and safety legislation, industry codes of practice, and site-specific safety requirements at all times
- Liaise with builders, contractors, engineers, and clients on-site to coordinate work schedules and ensure projects are completed on time and to specification
- Identify and order materials, fittings, and equipment required for upcoming works, ensuring accuracy in quantities and specifications
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including service reports, compliance documentation, and as-built information
- Mentor and provide on-the-job guidance to apprentices and junior tradespeople where required
- Ensure all installations meet relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and manufacturer guidelines
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Completed trade qualification in Plumbing and Drainage with a focus on mechanical services or airconditioning (Certificate III in Plumbing or equivalent)
- Current and valid plumbing licence appropriate to the state or territory of work
- Demonstrated hands-on experience installing and maintaining HVAC, hydronic, or mechanical services systems in commercial or industrial environments
- Sound ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Competency in the installation of pipework, ducting, plant, and associated mechanical services equipment
- Knowledge of and commitment to Australian Standards, building codes, and WHS legislation
- Strong problem-solving ability with a methodical and detail-oriented approach to fault-finding and repair
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment as well as independently on site
- Current driver's licence (car)
- Physically fit and capable of working in varied conditions including confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors
## Preferred Qualifications
- ARCTick refrigerant handling licence (Type I or Type II)
- Experience working on hydronic heating systems, chilled water systems, or building management system (BMS) integration
- White Card (General Construction Induction)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity overseeing apprentices or a small team on site
- Familiarity with energy efficiency principles and sustainable HVAC design practices
