About the Role
As a Heavy Vehicle Investigator, you will investigate and assess breaches of heavy vehicle legislation of a complex nature to ensure compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations. The role involves conducting comprehensive investigations and surveillance operations into Chain of Responsibility, West Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation and Heavy Vehicle Pilot breaches, systemic non-conformances of Operators, and examining industry practices to identify and recommend sanctions for potential non-compliance.
You will prepare reports, collate case histories, and develop briefs to support the prosecution of offenders. The position also requires attending court hearings, presenting evidence, and providing information to inquiries and legal proceedings.
In this role, you will provide specialist support and investigative guidance to the Heavy Vehicle Transport Compliance branch, including advice on breaches of heavy vehicle legislation. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and review of legislative procedures and practices that support compliance and enforcement activities.
The role also involves providing timely and accurate information to the transport industry on legislative rights, obligations, and heavy vehicle standards in a customer-focused manner. You will build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
You have experience investigating complex breaches of legislation, including conducting surveillance and gathering evidence to support enforcement outcomes. You are able to assess industry practices, identify non-compliance, and contribute to enforcement actions, including the preparation of briefs and court documentation.
You can prepare clear and accurate reports and present evidence in court or formal proceedings. You are confident providing advice and guidance on legislative requirements, both internally and to industry stakeholders.
You have the ability to develop and review procedures and practices that support compliance and enforcement, and can provide specialist advice to support operational teams.
You communicate clearly and provide accurate, timely information in a customer-focused manner. You are able to build and maintain professional working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
