The Role
ALS is seeking enthusiastic Laboratory Assistants and Mineralogy Technicians to join our metallurgical services business based in Perth, WA. You will be a casual employee working up to 75 hours a fortnight (shiftwork is required for the Laboratory Assistant role- day/afternoon), with a view to permanent full-time employment after a period of service for both roles. Reporting to the Area Supervisor your responsibilities as a team member, will be to perform metallurgical testwork procedures safely and successfully to meet the expectations of our clients.
These are not FIFO mine site positions. All training will be provided.
- People with exposure to mine site testwork would make ideal candidates for this role.
- Knowledge of mineral processing or equipment operation would be very beneficial but not essential.
- Candidates with good mechanical aptitude would be highly desirable.
The day to day
Applicants will be based in the Balcatta or Wangara laboratory, typical duties include:
- Supporting the Area Supervisor and Team leaders, you will assist in performing bench testwork procedures.
- Involved in sample preparation process procedure
- Follow procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard.
- Accurate record keeping, capturing, and processing control samples.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the workplace.

- Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual handling tasks.

Applicants with previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded, however, training will be provided for successful applicants with no experience.
