About the Role
We are seeking a Survey Party Chief to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead and coordinate offshore survey operations, ensuring survey systems, equipment, and personnel are fully prepared to support safe and successful project delivery. Working closely with project managers, offshore crews, surveyors, and clients, you will play a key role in maintaining high operational standards, technical performance, and efficient execution across all survey activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Survey Operations Leadership: Lead and coordinate onboard survey operations, ensuring all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with project and client requirements.
- Equipment & System Management: Ensure survey systems are operational, calibrated, maintained, and fully prepared for offshore operations, including planning preventative maintenance and managing spare parts and sensors.
- Project & Client Support: Work closely with Offshore Managers and Client Representatives to deliver survey operations in accordance with project specifications, operational procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and support survey personnel onboard, ensuring clear task allocation, effective communication, training, and a positive team environment.
- Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain mobilisation reports, project documentation, shift handovers, and operational records to support efficient project delivery and compliance.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote strong safety awareness onboard, conduct risk assessments, and ensure all survey operations comply with QHSE procedures, regulations, and safe working practices.
About You
- Qualifications: Relevant qualification and/or extensive experience in surveying, geophysics, survey engineering, or data processing.
- Experience: Strong offshore experience within marine and subsea survey operations, including leadership responsibilities in survey teams or offshore projects.
- Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of survey systems, offshore survey operations, equipment maintenance, and industry standards.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, delegate responsibilities, and maintain effective communication with clients and offshore personnel.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure offshore environments.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to foster a collaborative team culture, support personnel development, and maintain positive working relationships onboard.
- Ability to work offshore. Able to complete (or already possess) the necessary offshore medical fitness evaluations, safety certifications, and travel requirements for offshore work.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
