Experienced Veterinary Nurse – Specialist Surgery

VetSurg is looking for an experienced veterinary nurse to join our growing specialist surgical team.
We are a surgeon-owned specialist hospital focused on orthopaedic, neurological and soft tissue surgery for dogs and cats. Our caseload includes TPLO, total hip replacement, fracture repair, arthroscopy, spinal surgery, advanced imaging, and complex soft tissue procedures.
This role would suit a confident, motivated nurse who enjoys high-quality patient care, excellent anaesthesia, and being part of a close-knit team where nurses are genuinely valued.
About the role
You will be involved in all aspects of specialist surgical nursing, including:
- Surgical patient preparation, monitoring and recovery
- Anaesthesia for advanced orthopaedic, neurologic and soft tissue procedures
- Inpatient care and post-operative nursing
- Imaging support, including radiography, CT and fluoroscopy
- Instrument preparation, theatre flow and sterile technique
- Client communication and discharge support
- Working closely with specialist surgeons, interns and a strong nursing team
This is not a routine GP nursing role. You will be part of complex surgical cases and have the opportunity to develop advanced nursing skills in a supportive specialist environment.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience as a veterinary nurse, ideally in referral, emergency, surgery or a busy GP hospital
- Is confident with anaesthesia and patient monitoring
- Has strong attention to detail
- Communicates well with vets, nurses, clients and referring clinics
- Enjoys working in a team
- Takes pride in excellent patient care
- Is calm, organised and reliable
- Wants to keep learning and developing professionally
Referral or specialist experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential. A positive attitude, good clinical instincts and a genuine interest in surgery are more important.
