About the Role
An excellent opportunity has become available for a positive-thinking, hard-working person to join the Roshana Group’s Head Office finance team on a full-time basis as a Junior Accountant. The ideal person for this role must be focused, possess a willingness to learn and master the use of our systems and processes and be a team player who can also work on their own. This role is between $75K to $85K per annum on a fulltime basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and completion of annual and half-year audits, including providing supporting documentation to external accountants and auditors.
- Assist with fortnightly payroll processing, including PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and workers’ compensation requirements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and accurately record day-to-day financial transactions.
- Assist with the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with maintaining the general ledger and completing monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation and lodgement of GST, FBT, payroll tax and corporate income tax returns.
- Maintain and update schedules for accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation and insurance.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports, management reports and financial statements for the group.
- Monitor and investigate inter-company balances and variances, escalating discrepancies where required.
- Assist with the monthly group consolidation process and related financial reporting requirements.
- Provide financial reporting support for group projects and other business initiatives as required.
- Assist with audit preparation, including compiling audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required, under the guidance of the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant.
- Provide support to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions and assist with transactional accounting activities.
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
- Assist with meeting monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.
- Contribute to process improvements and support the wider finance team as required.
Skills, Attributes and Experience:
- 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within the Aged Care or community services sector.
- Degree or relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CPA/CA studies or equivalent would be highly regarded.
- Experience with Care Systems or similar accounting/financial software would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships across the organisation.
- A proactive, reliable and collaborative approach to working within a finance team.
