Full Job Description

We're excited to welcome an Allied Health Practitioner Senior to Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS).

As a senior member of a multidisciplinary team, the HP4 clinician demonstrates advanced clinical expertise and a high level of autonomous decision-making while collaborating closely with nursing, medical, and allied health professionals. This role requires the ability to provide leadership in complex and dynamic environments, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and person-centred care for consumers presenting with mental health concerns in Emergency Departments.

The Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH) team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and Nambour General Hospital (NGH) delivers 24-hour access to specialist mental health care. The HP4 clinician undertakes comprehensive intake assessments, formulates clinical recommendations, and provides expert consultation to Emergency Department staff regarding interventions and management strategies for mental health presentations. Additional responsibilities include delivering education and mentoring to ED staff to build capability and confidence in managing mental health consumers.

Key Responsibilities include:
Deliver independent high-level Psychology / Occupational Therapy / Social work clinical practice with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision. Exercise professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
Provide high level clinical advice, education and influence towards a common patient-centred vision and direction to professional operational teams and relevant stakeholders regarding service delivery.
Provide leadership oversight and clinical practice supervision to less experienced Psychology / Occupational Therapy / Social work practitioners and students as delegated.
Take a leadership role in the monitoring of professional clinical standards and outcomes, service improvement activities, Performance and Development Plans (PDP), quality activities, evidence-based practice, clinical research programs.

Remuneration value up to $49 692.31 p.a, comprising salary rates $64.64 - $69.55 p.h., (part time, 24 hrs p.f.), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) Applications will remain current for 12 months. Please note: only applications from candidates will be accepted (applications that may result in an agency fee will not be considered).
