What This Role Is Really About
We’re looking for someone who believes that every student deserves to experience success in learning.
In a small high school environment, this role helps ensure that students who learn differently are supported not at the margins of the classroom, but within it. The opportunity to be a leader in this area and in the school exists for the right applicant.
The Work: Lead learning support across the high school by working closely with teachers to build inclusive classrooms where diverse learners can participate confidently in learning. Have the skills to confidently work with literacy and numeracy development, both to support students and in some cases extend students.
Why It Matters: When teachers are supported with thoughtful strategies and practical adjustments, more students are able to access learning, build confidence, and remain connected to their class and school community.
Inclusive Learning in a Steiner High School
Through collaboration with teachers and EAs, thoughtful adjustments, and strong relationships with students and families, the Learning Support Coordinator helps ensure that students who require additional support are able to engage in learning and experience genuine progress.
In a small school environment, this role has the rare opportunity to influence practice across the whole school, ensuring that students who might otherwise struggle to meet their potential are noticed early and are supported effectively.
What You’ll Do
- Lead learning support across the high school
- Work alongside teachers to develop inclusive classroom practices and whole-class learning adjustments
- Support teachers with practical strategies, scaffolding approaches, and differentiated teaching methods

- Ensure learning adjustments are understood and implemented consistently across all classes
- Actively lead learning-support EAs
- Meet with parents to discuss learning support plans and strategies
- Build relationships with feeder primary schools to support smooth student transitions
- Develop transition plans for incoming students and support new students starting at the school
- Maintain documentation and manage reporting requirements related to inclusive education
- Support senior students requiring adjustments to engage meaningfully in Class 12 Independent Research Projects
- Actively contribute to staff meetings and help strengthen inclusive practice across the school
You’ll Need
- Qualifications in education, inclusive education, or a related field
- Current Working With Children Check
- Strong understanding of learning differences, learning disabilities, and inclusive teaching practices
- Experience supporting teachers to adapt teaching approaches for diverse learners
- Familiarity with documentation and reporting requirements related to inclusive education
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- A genuine interest to learn about Steiner education and the philosophy that underpins the approach to teaching young people in a holistic way
You’ll Thrive If
- You believe inclusive classrooms benefit all learners
- You enjoy working alongside teachers to strengthen their practice
- You are motivated by the opportunity to help students who might otherwise fall through the cracks
- You value working in a small school environment where students are known well
- You are excited by the opportunity to shape inclusive learning practice across the school
