As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Spatial Specialist / Geospatial Analyst to support our network data and spatial systems.

About the Role

As a Spatial Specialist / Geospatial Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and managing spatial data related to fibre optic networks within GIS platforms, with a strong focus on ArcGIS and/or 3-GIS (and legacy GE Smallworld) systems. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of network records, supporting both design and operational teams.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in GIS within a telecommunications or utilities environment, looking to deepen their expertise in fibre network inventory systems.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse spatial data to support fibre network planning and optimisation
Utilise GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS and related platforms to manage and interpret spatial datasets
Develop and maintain mapping outputs, spatial models and geospatial datasets
Support infrastructure routing, network design and spatial decision making
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to deliver efficient fibre network solutions
Maintain and update GIS datasets for fibre optic network infrastructure using ArcGIS, QGIS and/or 3-GIS platforms
Capture, validate, and manage spatial and attribute data for network assets (cables, ducts, pits, splice points, fibres)
Produce high-quality maps, schematics, spatial reports and outputs for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with company data models and standards
Perform data imports/exports and support integration between GIS, design tools (e.g., Visio), and network inventory systems
Support as-built documentation workflows, ensuring field updates are accurately reflected in GIS systems
Assist in troubleshooting GIS data issues and improving data structures and workflows

Skills and Experience

Degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Engineering or related field
Minimum of 3 years' experience required for this position
Experience working with GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, 3-GIS)
Strong understanding of spatial data analysis, GIS principles and mapping techniques
Experience in telecommunications, infrastructure or network planning (preferred)
Experience working with linear network datasets (e.g., fibre cables, conduits, network topology)
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and validate large datasets
Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability in technical environments
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with design, engineering, and field teams
Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and improve systems and processes

Desirable

Experience working in a telecommunications or utilities environment, particularly fibre networks.
Familiarity with 3-GIS workflows, including fibre path modelling, splice management, and network tracing.
Exposure to ArcGIS extensions or tools (e.g., Utility Network, Spatial Analyst).
Knowledge of additional network inventory systems such as Smallworld or IQGeo.
Experience with data automation or scripting (e.g., Python, SQL, ArcPy).
Basic understanding of CAD/design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).
