Primary objective
Provide a responsive property maintenance service for Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) by undertaking and coordinating
building maintenance, repairs, and minor works that support the safety, security, functionality and operational readiness of police
facilities and related assets.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake minor maintenance, repairs or upgrades to NTPF buildings including carpentry, joinery fabrication installation and
door hardware replacement to provide a prompt, secure and cost-effective service across the metropolitan, regional and remote
areas of the NT.
2. Provide practical advice on maintenance issues, repair options, materials, timeframes and the potential impacts to operational
area, and contribute to scopes of work and minor project documentation.
3. Identify higher risk, specialist, or non-routine works and escalate them as required.
4. Maintain the carpenter’s workshop including sourcing and managing materials, parts, tools and consumables in line with NTG
procurement guidelines and financial delegations.
5. Ensure that all relevant administrative processes, including responding to emails in a timely manner and maintaining accurate
records are undertaken in line with NTG policies.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Trade qualifications or experience relevant to the position including demonstrated knowledge of the National Construction
Code, Australian Work Health and Safety legislation and other relevant regulations, standards, guidelines and codes.
2. Demonstrated physical capacity and practical skills to undertake safe manual handling, use ladders and safely use, store and
maintain hand and power tools, equipment and materials.
3. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well
as independently with minimal supervision.
4. Proven customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, engage
effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and tactfully handle customer interactions.
5. Well-developed organisational skills with the capacity to work under pressure, a flexible attitude, the ability to use initiative and
to adapt to changing priorities, determine workload priorities, meet stringent deadlines and.
6. Proven skills in the use of information technology systems, including Microsoft applications.
7. A current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence, and the ability and willingness to travel across the Greater Darwin Region as well
as to regional and remote facilities by 4WD vehicle or light aircraft as required.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of NT Government systems such as TRM, TRIPS and NTG Pay, or similar.
