Primary objective
Coordinate, support and lead the Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) Ward Clerk workforce to ensure high-quality, consistent
administrative services across inpatient units/theatre, while providing executive administrative support to the PRH General
Manager.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate day-to-day deployment, rostering adjustments and emergent coverage for ward clerks to maintain operational
continuity across inpatient wards.
2. Provide training, orientation, onboarding and ongoing capability support to ward clerks, ensuring compliance with mandatory
requirements and administrative standards.
3. Promote a safe, positive and high-performing team culture through leadership, coaching, communication and adherence to NT
Health values.
4. Ensure ward clerks maintain accurate patient interviews, documentation and medical record management in accordance with
AS 2828.
5. Provide high-level executive support to the PRH General Manager including diary coordination, meeting scheduling, agenda
preparation, briefing coordination and minute-taking.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in hospital administration, operational coordination, staff support and mentoring within a complex
clinical environment, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
2. Highly developed leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to support teams, resolve issues and
maintain effective working relationships in demanding environments.
3. Knowledge of hospital administrative processes, patient flow, health records management and revenue capture requirements,
or the ability to quickly develop this expertise.
4. Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use hospital information systems, billing systems, TRIM or similar electronic
records systems.
5. Strong organisational, analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work
independently.
6. Experience providing executive administrative and secretariat support, including meeting coordination, agenda preparation
and minute-taking.
7. Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive, culturally safe and respectful workplace.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications or formal training in administration, health services management or related discipline.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology and revenue, data accuracy and patient documentation requirements.
