## Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Fleet Manager to oversee the acquisition, deployment, and disposal of vehicles within our rental operations. This role is central to ensuring our fleet remains cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with the needs of our clients and business objectives. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, a sound understanding of vehicle markets, and the ability to build lasting relationships with both suppliers and customers. ## Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement and disposal of fleet vehicles, negotiating competitive purchase and sale agreements to maximise value for the business
- Coordinate the leasing and hire of vehicles to clients, providing expert advice on vehicle types, hire rates, terms, and obligations to ensure an outstanding customer experience
- Develop, implement, and continuously review fleet management policies, procedures, and operational schedules to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance
- Liaise with clients to assess their transport requirements, offering tailored solutions and resolving complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Oversee the planned maintenance, servicing, and repair of all fleet vehicles and equipment, minimising downtime and ensuring roadworthiness at all times
- Process and manage vehicle orders and bookings, coordinating collection and delivery logistics to meet agreed timelines and customer expectations
- Monitor and manage fuel procurement and usage across the fleet, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve sustainability
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date fleet records, including registration, insurance, compliance documentation, and asset registers
- Prepare and present operational reports, budget forecasts, and performance statements to senior management, supporting data-driven decision-making
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vehicle suppliers, leasing companies, and service providers to secure favourable terms and reliable support
- Monitor industry trends, vehicle market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform fleet strategy and ensure the organisation remains competitive
- Lead, mentor, and support fleet operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in fleet management, fleet operations, or a closely related role within the transport, rental, or logistics sector
- Demonstrated ability to manage vehicle procurement and disposal processes, with strong commercial negotiation skills
- Sound understanding of vehicle leasing, hire agreements, and relevant contractual obligations
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong customer service orientation, with experience managing client relationships and resolving complaints effectively
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for reporting and data analysis
- Solid understanding of Australian road transport regulations, vehicle compliance standards, and workplace health and safety requirements
- Strong analytical skills with experience preparing operational reports, budgets, and performance summaries
- Full, valid Australian driver's licence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across all levels of an organisation
## Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience working within a vehicle rental, fleet leasing, or automotive dealership environment
- Familiarity with fleet management platforms such as FleetWave, Teletrac Navman, or similar systems
- Knowledge of sustainable fleet practices, including experience with hybrid or electric vehicle procurement
- Formal training or certification in contract management or procurement
