About the Company
Retro Traffic is expanding in Queensland, and we are looking for an experienced and adaptable Operations Coordinator to help support and shape the next stage of our growth.
With more than 30 years of industry experience and recognised as the TMAA Traffic Management Company of the Year, Retro Traffic has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality traffic management solutions, exceptional client service, and safe, reliable outcomes across every project.
As our QLD team continues to grow, this is an opportunity to join a business that values professionalism, accountability, strong relationships, and operational excellence from the ground up.
About the Role
This is not a traditional “desk-only” coordination role.
As Operations Coordinator, you will become a key part of a small but growing Queensland team where flexibility, initiative, and adaptability are essential. The role is broad, hands-on, and ideal for someone who enjoys variety and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager to support the day-to-day running of the business across workforce coordination, scheduling, compliance, recruitment support, client communication, and operational administration.
One day may involve coordinating workforce allocations and managing last-minute operational changes, while the next may involve onboarding new starters, supporting compliance requirements, or assisting with client communication and systems management.
This role will suit someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, takes ownership, and wants to play a genuine role in helping build a high-performing operation.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Operations & Workforce Coordination
- Coordinating daily rosters, allocations, and workforce coverage across multiple projects.
- Managing operational changes and resourcing gaps in real time.
- Supporting fleet and equipment readiness.
- Ensuring projects are prepared with the required documentation, compliance, and workforce planning.
Systems & Administration
- Maintaining accurate records across operational platforms including Traffio, Staffd, or similar systems.
- Supporting operational reporting, compliance tracking, and workforce documentation.
- Managing shared communications and ensuring information is distributed accurately and efficiently.
Recruitment & Workforce Support
- Assisting with recruitment activities, onboarding, inductions, and workforce engagement.
- Coordinating client-specific site compliance and onboarding requirements.
- Supporting the retention and successful integration of new team members.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Supporting clear and professional communication with clients, field staff, and internal stakeholders.
- Building strong working relationships through reliability, responsiveness, and professionalism.
- Representing the Retro Traffic brand positively at all times.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Supporting safety and compliance standards across operational activities.
- Assisting with audits, workforce records, and system accuracy.
- Contributing ideas and process improvements to support business growth and operational efficiency.
About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a role with variety and responsibility.
You will ideally bring:
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Sponsorship is not available for this position).
- Previous experience within the Traffic Management industry.
- Comfortable working 5 days per week in Office and share responsibility for on- call support.
- Exposure to workforce coordination, rostering, scheduling, or operations support.
- Experience using systems such as Traffio, Staffd, or similar workforce management platforms.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- A calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A willingness to step in and support where needed as part of a growing team.
Most importantly, you take pride in your work, enjoy being part of a team environment, and want to contribute to building a respected, reliable, and safety-focused operation in Queensland.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to join a respected and established traffic management business during an exciting growth phase in QLD.
- A varied and fast-paced role with genuine responsibility and influence.
- Supportive leadership and a collaborative team environment.
- Long-term career growth opportunities as the Queensland operation expands.
- The chance to make a genuine impact within a business that values high standards, accountability, and professionalism.
