About the role and team
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Insurance team, based in our Darwin office.
The main focus for this role will be to provide admin support to our lawyers. Our growing Insurance practice has approximately 90 people located across Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. We are a defendant Insurance legal team working across both General Insurance and Statutory Insurance matters with our Darwin practice having a focus on workers compensation.
You will be responsible for:
- drafting of documentation as required;
- performing conflict searches and file opening;
- maintaining of extensive electronic filing for all incoming and outgoing correspondence (including splitting & saving documents in PDF format);
- preparation of all monthly billing;
- arranging court documents to be ready for e-filing / clerk run with the courts;
- managing all client file maintenance for the team;
- general file maintenance including closing and archiving;
- diary management including listing of key dates (court hearings and due dates); and
- other ad hoc tasks.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- minimum of five years’ experience in an administration environment (professional services preferable);
- experience working a document management system (eg iManage10 would be highly desirable);
- experience with large MS Word and PDF documents;
- previous experience with billing. (eg use of Aderant highly desirable);
- strong attention to detail;
- proactive and willing to learn new things; and
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
