Role Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics/Communications Technician to join our Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) Sustainment program, based at Alice Springs, NT reporting to the Site Maintenance Lead.
The JORN has been a part of our nation’s defence landscape for many decades and comprises three Over-The-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) systems to provide surveillance coverage of our northern border. BAE Systems has been awarded the contract to manage the sustainment and upgrade of this 100 percent Australian solution that is strategically important to Australia’s security.
As part of our Fly-in Fly-out team you will fly to the site from your hub airport and work in shifts of 15 days on (including 2 travel days) and 13 days off. During your 15 days on you will be provided with accommodation, meals and travel.
Applications from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney will be prefered.
Core Duties:
- Provide technical support for radar and associated systems in line with the approved Maintenance Management Plan and supporting documentation.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance activities to ensure system integrity and operational readiness.
- Accurately complete fault identification, reporting, and documentation in accordance with required processes.
- Diagnose and rectify system faults, deficiencies, and defects within JORN radar systems.
- Perform operational-level maintenance tasks across radar and associated systems.
About YOU:
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of high-power radio frequency (RF) and/or digital control systems equipment.
- Proven experience in at least one technical discipline, or across multiple disciplines such as computer systems, analogue electronics, control systems, digital systems, or RF technologies.
- Certificate III (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Computer Systems, or an Over-the-Horizon Radar (OTHR) related field.
- Adaptability to new initiatives and changing conditions.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- NV1 security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
