A Day in the Life
The Water Treatment Operations Technician will primarily support the operation and maintenance of our water treatment facilities at Williamtown, NSW , while also providing field support to projects and treatment sites across Australia as required.
The role is hands-on and varied, combining water treatment plant operations, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting with support for the construction, commissioning and modification of treatment systems. Travel to other project locations will be required as operational and project needs arise.
The role will be responsible for a range of activities including:
- Operate, monitor and maintain water treatment plants and associated wellfield and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs on mechanical and process equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and process equipment to support initial diagnosis and resolution of plant issues.
- Operate and monitor treatment processes using plant HMI and SCADA control systems.
- Collect water samples and support the coordination of laboratory analysis and operational reporting.
- Support the construction, installation, commissioning and modification of new and existing water treatment systems.
- Coordinate and supervise specialist subcontractors where required.
- Plan and prioritise work activities to meet operational and project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with operations and project teams across Australia.
- Approach all work with a safety-first attitude and comply with Onterris' WHS, Environmental and Quality policies and management systems.
- Promptly report safety, environmental and quality incidents and hazards.
Your Expertise and Skills
These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.
- Experience in water treatment operations, industrial plant operations, field services or a related technical environment.
- Relevant trade or technical experience in areas such as mechanical fitting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC or similar is highly regarded.
- Strong hands-on maintenance skills and confidence using hand and power tools.
- The ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process equipment.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A current Australian Driver's Licence.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
- A willingness and ability to travel to project sites across Australia as required.
Licences and competencies including First Aid, Forklift, Working at Heights and Chemical Handling are desirable. We may provide additional training where gaps are identified.
