We are now seeking an exceptional Senior Research Assistant to play a central role in the Cancer Epigenetic Biology & Therapeutics (CEBT) Group.
This is a senior, hands-on role combining high-impact research with leadership in laboratory coordination, compliance, and training. Approximately 50% of the role is focused on research activities and 50% on group coordination and operations.
As our Senior Research Assistant, you will be a key operational leader within the CEBT Group. You will ensure the smooth, compliant, and efficient running of the laboratory while also contributing intellectually and experimentally to cutting-edge cancer research. This role offers significant autonomy, visibility, and opportunities for career development within a world-class research environment.
Key Responsibilities within the role will include:
- Ensuring best practice laboratory operations, working closely with the Group Leader and institute-wide committees to support excellence, safety, and sustainability.
- Contributing directly to the CEBT research program, demonstrating technical independence while supporting collaborative team efforts.
To succeed you will have:
- At minimum, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) or equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Research Assistant, Program Officer, or Laboratory Manager.
- Demonstrated experience writing and managing human, animal, and GMO ethics applications.
- Strong organisational skills, scientific judgement, and the ability to balance leadership with hands-on research.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to research excellence.
