About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Group Jeweller to join the JPL Group workshop team. As part of Australia’s largest specialist jewellery retailer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality jewellery repairs and alterations that meet our exacting standards. Working closely with the Group Workshop Manager, Setters and Polishers, this role is integral to ensuring every customer receives a beautifully finished product.
What will you do?
- Perform repairs including soldering, resizing rings, replacing clasps, and general restoration
- Complete allocated work orders within required timeframes and company standards
- Read and interpret repair instructions, ensuring clarity before commencing work
- Verify job details such as materials, gemstones, sizes, and quantities
- Carry out jewellery repairs and alterations efficiently and accurately in line with Company standards
- Work with a variety of metals including gold and silver, as well as gemstones
- Use jewellery-making techniques such as assembly, polishing, and laser joining
- Prepare items for finishing through emerying and pre-polishing
- Clean and polish jewellery using workshop equipment and approved processes
- Safely handle chemicals and cleaning solutions in line with workplace safety standards
- Manage workload priorities and escalate delays when necessary
- Maintain workshop organisation, cleanliness, and security of company assets
- Support stock replenishment and general workshop operations as required
What skills and experience do you need?
- Proven experience in jewellery repair, restoration, and alteration of precious metals
- Strong hand-eye coordination and excellent finger dexterity
- Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision
- Solid technical knowledge of jewellery materials, gemstones, and repair techniques
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to prioritise tasks
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
