About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated part-time Technical Officer to provide technical support for practicals in the discipline of Anatomy for the School of Medical, Indigenous & Health Sciences and the Graduate School of Medicine. The position is responsible for the preparation of laboratories and resources for teaching, dissection and maintenance of human anatomical specimens, embalming and maintenance and calibration of equipment.

The School of Medical, Indigenous & Health Sciences offers courses in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Medical and Health Sciences and Health Sciences (Indigenous Studies). This structure provides opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching and research.
The Anatomy Laboratory is licensed within NSW for the provision of Anatomical Examination under the Anatomy Act 1977, and along with the physiology laboratories, provides state of the art learning opportunities for students within the School of Medicine. The Laboratory comprises a small team of uniquely skilled staff.
What You’ll Bring
You will have completed a degree in a relevant field (such as Medical Science) or have a combination of education and experience deemed to be equivalent. You will have a solid understanding of human anatomy and physiology, along with experience in applying WHS protocols in a variety of laboratory settings. Your demonstrated knowledge of manual handling techniques will be important as well as your ability to work effectively within a team. Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills are essential, as well as a proactive mindset and an attitude of continuous improvement. Previous experience in an anatomy lab or mortuary will be highly regarded.

Role Details
- Employment type: Continuing Contingent* part-time time appointment (14 hours per week, 0.4FTE)
- Level 5: $85,682 - $96,898 (pro-rata) + 17% Superannuation

Special Job Requirements
- You may be required to work outside standard business hours or occasionally weekends, as dictated by the Laboratory Timetable and operational requirements.
- Manual handling of cadaveric material (>16kg) exposure to biological, chemical and sharp hazards in a risk-controlled environment will be a regular part of this role
- This position is not suitable for remote work in accordance with the UOW Remote Working Guidelines.
This position requires a pre-employment medical be undertaken to demonstrate satisfactory fitness to undertake the physical requirements of this position.
