Job Position: Beauty Therapist (Nail Technician)
Job Description: A Beauty Therapist (Nail Technician) provides professional nail, hand and foot care services to clients, including manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, decorative nail art, nail repair and after-care advice based on client needs and preferences.
The Tasks for the position include:
- Consult with clients to identify their beauty service needs, nail condition, skin sensitivities, treatment preferences and suitable nail care options.
- Perform manicures and pedicures, including nail shaping, cuticle care, buffing, exfoliation, moisturising and specialised hand and foot treatments.
- Apply nail polish, gel polish, shellac, decorative nail art, artificial nails, nail extensions and other nail enhancement services professionally and safely.
- Carry out nail repair, removal, refills and maintenance services while protecting the natural nail and surrounding skin.
- Provide basic beauty therapy services relevant to the role, including hand and foot skin care, product application and client after-care advice.
- Assess treatment results, evaluate beauty therapy products and recommend appropriate nail care, skin care and maintenance products to clients.
- Maintain strict hygiene standards by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilising tools, equipment, treatment stations and work areas in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Receive bookings, schedule appointments, maintain accurate client records and assist with payments using the salon’s POS system.
- Stay updated with current nail technology, beauty therapy trends, product knowledge, safety practices and customer service standards.
Skill Requirements:
- Holds a Certificate III in Beauty Services, Nail Technology or equivalent qualification
- At least 1 year of professional experience as a Beauty Therapist, Nail Technician, Manicurist or similar role
- Familiarity with professional nail and beauty equipment, including manicure and pedicure tools, UV/LED lamps, nail files, buffers and sterilisation equipment.
- Knowledge of gel polish, acrylic, shellac, nail extension, nail art and nail repair techniques.
- Good organisational skills to manage appointments, treatment preparation, stock and daily service requirements.
- Strong communication, time management, customer service and planning skills.
- Be pleasant, polite and professional when dealing with clients, staff and suppliers.
- Be responsible, reliable and able to work with a team of employees under constant work pressure.
- Basic math and computer skills for booking, payment and POS system use.
- Understanding of hygiene, infection control and workplace safety practices in a beauty service environment.
