## Fire Protection Plumber
## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and licenced Fire Protection Plumber to join our team and play a vital role in the installation, testing, servicing, and repair of water-based fire protection systems. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated hands-on experience across a range of fire suppression and hydrant systems, with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship. This role is well suited to a trade-qualified professional who thrives in both independent and collaborative environments and takes pride in delivering work that meets Australian standards. A current and valid licence or registration relevant to fire protection plumbing is required to be considered for this position.
## Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and maintain water-based fire protection systems including sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, hose reels, and associated infrastructure in accordance with Australian standards
- Carry out routine and corrective servicing, repairs, and inspections of existing fire protection installations to ensure ongoing operational integrity and compliance
- Install and configure control valve assemblies, special hazard systems, and fixed fire pump sets as required across a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects
- Connect and commission static storage tanks and associated pipework for fixed fire protection systems, ensuring correct pressure ratings and water supply configurations
- Test the functional integrity of water-based fire suppression systems, identifying and rectifying faults, pressure anomalies, and non-conformances
- Inspect, test, and maintain gaseous fire suppression systems in accordance with relevant standards and site-specific requirements
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, engineering specifications, and hydraulic design documentation to ensure accurate and compliant installations
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to coordinate fire protection works within broader construction or refurbishment programmes
- Complete accurate job records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements
- Identify and escalate potential hazards, defects, or system failures promptly, maintaining a proactive approach to workplace health and safety
- Liaise with clients and site personnel in a professional manner, providing clear communication regarding works undertaken, system status, and any recommendations
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420) or equivalent nationally recognised trade qualification
- Current and valid plumbing licence or registration as required by the relevant state or territory authority
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems including sprinklers, hydrants, and hose reels
- Solid working knowledge of Australian standards applicable to fire protection systems, including AS 2118 and AS 1851
- Proven ability to read and interpret hydraulic drawings, technical specifications, and as-built documentation
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety obligations and safe work practices on construction and operational sites
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple projects or service calls
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering compliant, high-quality workmanship
- Current driver's licence (car) and willingness to travel to various project sites as required
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sprinkler fitting as a recognised specialisation within fire protection plumbing
- Familiarity with the installation and maintenance of gaseous fire suppression systems
- White Card (General Construction Induction) or equivalent site safety certification
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, or government projects
- Working at Heights or Confined Space certification
- First Aid certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience using job management software or mobile field service applications
