With increasing customer demand and diverse menu offerings, the business requires a skilled Chef to support kitchen operations, maintain food quality, and contribute to the overall dining experience provided at Nebo Service Centre.
About the Role
The Chef is a key position responsible for planning, organising, and managing kitchen operations within the restaurant and licensed hospitality section of the business. The role ensures high standards of food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency while supporting the overall customer dining experience.
The position requires strong culinary expertise, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment while maintaining consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Preparing and cooking a variety of meals including Modern Australian cuisine, grill meals, pub-style dining, continental dishes, and other menu offerings
- Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, kitchen staff, and service staff
- Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- Preparing and cooking food in accordance with menu requirements and customer expectations
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Supervising kitchen operations to maintain efficiency, consistency, and service standards
- Assisting in selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff
- Managing food storage, freezing, stock rotation, and preservation processes
- Supporting daily kitchen coordination during busy service periods within the licensed hospitality environment
Requirements
- AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and commercial kitchen operations
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Preference will be given to Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents.
