About Us

Uarah Fisheries is one of Australia's leading producers of Murray Cod, Golden Perch and Silver Perch, operating a modern hatchery and grow-out facility. Using specialised intensive aquaculture techniques and more than 40 years of in-house research and innovation, we produce premium Australian freshwater fish for both domestic and international markets.

We are seeking a dedicated Aquaculture or Fisheries Technician to join our production team and support hatchery, grow-out and fish health operations.

Key Responsibilities

Support hatchery and grow-out production operations for Murray Cod, Golden Perch and Silver Perch across recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), ponds and tank-based culture systems.
Monitor fish health, growth performance and survival rates across multiple production stages including broodstock, eggs, larvae, fingerlings and market-size fish, and report findings to senior technicians or farm management.
Conduct routine environmental and water quality monitoring, including sampling and interpreting key parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite and water flow conditions.
Assist in developing and implementing feeding strategies by monitoring feed response, growth performance and Identify early signs of disease, parasite infestation, stress or environmental imbalance in aquatic stock, and assist in implementing biosecurity and fish health management measures.
Support breeding and hatchery operations including broodstock conditioning, spawning preparation, egg incubation, larval rearing and juvenile fish transfer between production systems.
Collect biological samples and production data, maintain accurate digital and manual records, and assist in analysing trends related to growth performance, survival rates and system efficiency.
Operate, calibrate and maintain aquaculture equipment and infrastructure, including oxygenation systems, pumps, filtration units, UV systems, feeding systems and water recirculation infrastructure.
Assist in system optimisation activities, including monitoring stocking densities, water exchange rates and tank or pond performance to improve production outcomes.
Participate in fish grading, sorting, counting and transfer operations to ensure correct stock distribution and optimal growth conditions across production units.
Support harvest preparation activities including crowding, netting, pumping, loading and live fish handling for transport and processing.
Maintain strict biosecurity and hygiene standards, including equipment disinfection, system isolation procedures and mortality management across production zones.
Assist in routine maintenance and inspection of hatchery and grow-out infrastructure to ensure operational reliability and compliance with production standards.
Work collaboratively with aquaculture technicians, hatchery staff and farm management to support continuous improvement of production efficiency and fish health outcomes.

Pay: $85,000.00 per year
