As Manager Assets and Engineering, you'll play an important leadership role within our Infrastructure Delivery Directorate, leading the planning, design, delivery and ongoing management of Council's engineering, assets, and capital works program.
This is more than a project management role.
You'll provide strategic leadership across Council's Projects, Contracts, Assets and Design section, guide long-term asset planning, aid in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects and work closely with the Director Infrastructure Delivery to improve the way Council plans, delivers and manages infrastructure.
Whether it's improving asset performance, identifying smarter ways of working or delivering projects that leave a lasting legacy, you'll have the opportunity to influence the future direction of our organisation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing budgets, business cases, tender documentation, consultant briefs and reports for Council, funding bodies and government agencies;
- Build and maintain relationships with current and new suppliers, clients, contractors and subcontractors and ensure all stakeholders are communicated with effectively and efficiently;
- Leading the management of Council's asset lifecycle, ensuring maintenance and renewal planning aligns with asset management strategies, legislative requirements and service levels;
- Representing Council with government agencies, contractors, consultants and community stakeholders;
- Identifying and pursuing grant funding opportunities to support Council's long-term infrastructure priorities;
- Conceiving project delivery and construction methodology and presenting schedules and monthly projected expenditure; and
- Mentoring engineers and technical staff while fostering a culture focused on safety, innovation and continuous improvement.

You're an experienced engineering leader who enjoys solving complex problems, improving systems and delivering projects that create lasting community outcomes.
You'll bring a balance of strategic thinking, technical expertise and practical leadership, with the ability to confidently engage with executive leadership, contractors and the community.
You'll ideally possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
- Strong experience managing capital works programs, contracts, procurement and budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management and lifecycle planning.
- The ability to identify innovative solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to develop, mentor and motivate teams.
- Experience working within a strong WHS culture with a commitment to achieving zero harm.
- High-level proficiency using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and contemporary project management systems.
Eligibility for Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia and experience with AutoCAD or asset management systems will be highly regarded.
