Covering 1,605 square kilometres with around 10km of coastline, the region is renowned for its stunning natural beauty – from lush rainforests and pristine rivers to the World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park. The Opportunity
Reporting to the IT Coordinator, this role is responsible for providing frontline technical support and maintaining Council’s IT infrastructure, systems and end-user devices. You will work as part of the Information and Communication Technology team to manage the deployment, maintenance and support of hardware, software and network systems, ensuring high availability, security and performance. The role also contributes to the effective operation of Council’s information management systems, including helpdesk support, asset management, Active Directory administration, and system monitoring, while supporting disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Information Technology (or equivalent relevant experience). You will bring experience working in a help desk or technical support environment within a medium-sized organisation, ideally with exposure to diverse IT infrastructure and remote support tools. Experience within local government, or in developing IT policies and procedures, will be highly regarded but is not essential.
To succeed in the role, you will demonstrate strong technical capability across WAN and LAN environments, end-user devices, and common business applications, combined with well-developed troubleshooting and analytical skills. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users. A strong customer service focus, attention to details, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and work within policy and WHS frameworks will be essential. You will also be proactive in keeping up with emerging technologies and identifying practical technology solutions that support organisational performance and service delivery.
